Situated in the beautiful medieval walled town of Conwy, this three star YHA offers breathtaking views over the Conwy estuary and the mountains of the Snowdon National Park.

Conwy Youth Hostel opened in July 1996. It was originally built as a TGWU conference centre and has an ideal layout both inside and out for all sizes of groups.

The hostel is set in large, lawned grounds with ample parking for cars and coaches. There are fabulous views from the hostel in all directions, taking in the castle, the Conwy estuary, Llandudno and the sea and then down the Conwy Valley towards the mountains of the Snowdonia National Park.

General Information

  • The hostel is open all day for residents although there may be certain areas restricted due to cleaning. Rooms are ready for check in from 2pm. Reception closes at 10.30pm
  • There is a door code for access into the hostel, which is available at reception. In case of emergency a member of staff can always be contacted.


Facilities for Groups

  • Accommodation is in single sex rooms of 2, 4 or 6 beds. All the beds are bunkbeds and all rooms have ensuite showers, handwash basins, individual bed lights and wardrobe space. Most rooms also have a desk.
  • We only issue keys to group leaders. However, if your group consists of older children, we can issue one key per room with a £10.00 returnable deposit.
  • The double doors, which separate the rooms on each floor from the rest of the hostel, are lockable for groups who have booked exclusive use of the floor. This is proving popular with many of our groups, adding extra security during your stay. Please ask about this option if interested


Facilities for Group Leaders

The YHA offers one free leader place for every 10 participants taking full board accommodation. To qualify for free leader places the booking conditions must be met. We always endeavour to accommodate Group Leaders in two bedded rooms.

Facilities for People with Disabilities

The hostel is equipped with a lift and ramp access to the hostel. There are two accessible toilets and a bathroom, which has an accessible shower for wheelchair users.

Meals

At Conwy we provide a full catering service. The meals are always nutritious and appetising with generous portions. We always offer a choice, which includes at least one vegetarian option and our three course evening meal, will always feature one of our homemade dishes. We are happy to cater for guests with special dietary requirements providing we are given advance notice. Meal times are usually breakfast at 8am and evening meal at 6.30pm. However, meal times can be arranged to suit your group’s programme.

For those summer evenings we can also provide buffet style barbecues outside in the garden. Just ring us for details.

The Booking Procedure and Payment

Once you have made your reservation request we will require the following depending on the date of arrival.

If your date of arrival is more than 6 months away:

  • Send £1.00 per head per night holding deposit. 25% of the total cost of your stay will then be due 6 months before you arrive. The balance will be due 2 months before your arrival.


If your date of arrival is less than 6 months but more than 2 months away

  • Send 25% of the total cost of your stay. The balance payment will then be due 2 months before you arrive.


If your date of arrival is less than 2 months away

  • We require full payment.


PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE YOUTH HOSTEL NAME AND GROUP NAME IS SHOWN ON ALL PAYMENT DOCUMENTS AND ALL HANDLING CHARGES ARE INCLUDED IN THE AMOUNT PAID.
