Outdoor Activities: Bush Craft
When you choose to do outdoor activities in Wales, Bush Craft is an excellent sport that is great for an adult/family event, and it also has great benefits for those looking for a team building exercise.

Outdoor Activities: Bush Craft
Adult/Family Activity:
You don’t need to be a TV celebrity to become accomplished at outdoor activities like bush craft. In our Bush Craft sessions we will teach you how and where to find the best source of ignition and then the best place to collect the fuel for the heart of your fire. With careful coaching you will try several methods of starting a fire, to discover what suits you the best. Then you are just a few strikes away from making yourself a hot drink or snack.
We will also look at different cooking techniques, maybe a Hobo Stove, Gillie Kettle or even a medieval skillet. Anyway once your fire is going we will use one or the other cooking techniques to either make a hot drink or cook a simple meal, a nice treat for your hard work. On longer courses we can introduce you to simple bush craft equipment for shelter building and sleeping systems so we can build an overnight bush camp to enjoy an evening meal followed by sleeping out under the stars. If you wish to do the overnight bush camp, it involves an afternoon activity learning all the necessary bush craft skills then an evening to build the bush camp.
If you choose to sleep out under the stars in your Bush Camp adventure, we advise that you bring your own sleeping bag so that you have a fall back option just in case the night becomes particularly cold. We carry centre sleeping bags as part of our emergency equipment, but it’s just nice to have your own personal sleeping bag from home!

Team Building Activity:
A critical element on any bush craft session is the campfire! During this phase your candidates will develop their communication, listening and problem-solving skills. This activity will encourage candidates to co-operate with each other to complete the tasks. From collecting the raw materials, experimenting with different fire starting techniques and fueling the finished fire. They will also gain confidence in achieving their goal, feel excitement and learn perseverance through basic fire lighting skills. All these factors bring about team unity and a respect for one another.
Fitness:
Basic, however if there are any issues please discuss this with us so that we can ensure the activity is fully inclusive.
