School Activity Trips: Mountaineering

On your next school activity trips why not consider mountaineering? Spending time outside and being active has repeatedly been proven beneficial to both pupils and adults alike. One of the best ways to expose pupils to the great outdoors is to take them into the mountains. Nature is all around us, and introducing love of nature to pupils at a young age is very important.

Taking pupils into the mountains lets them develop a lifelong relationship with nature. It is a chance for your pupils to flourish and explore natural surroundings they aren’t familiar with. They get to escape the endless mirage of concrete buildings and technology and witness how beautiful it actually is to be outside. Nothing makes you appreciate something more than experiencing it first-hand.

Pupils are sure to see and get curious about lots of things while in the mountains. They will be able to hear, smell, see, taste and feel things they didn’t usually experience. Our instructors have extensive of knowledge to share with your pupils about the mountain’s and their flora and fauna. They can teach them the importance of the environment and some basic survival skills. It’s also a great time to practice the principles of ‘leave no trace’, pupils will learn best through a real outdoor experience. Mountain trails often allow them to encounter many birds, animals and plants that they would otherwise see only in books or online.

However, the true benefits of exploring the hills and mountains go much deeper than an appreciation for the environment and improved fitness (although these are also both of great value), the increased confidence, resilience and self-reliance that will develop in your pupils will have a hugely positive impact on their personal development.

We have access to the best mountaineering routes in the mountains of Snowdonia in the North Wales locations, Mid-Wales and Shropshire provide us with some of the half day treks on the Stretton Hills and in South Wales and Pembrokeshire we have The Brecon Beacons and The Preseli Mountains.
