School Activity Trips: Blue Lake Buzz Day
Our School Activity Trip The Blue Lake Buzz Day is a unique combination of activities in a totally unique location.

School Activity Trips: Blue Lake Buzz Day
Pro-Active Adventure are the only outdoor activity provider in Wales who have legal access to this fantastic location. The Blue Lake is situated high on a mountain side overlooking Fairbourne on the Mid-Wales coast.
The lake was formed once the site was abandoned and a small stream started to flood the large vertical shaft. The lake gets it’s distinctive blue colour from the copper impurities within the slate. This full day of activities is an amazing opportunity for your pupils to experience a combination of activities and industrial history that few if any other school or youth group will be able to in such a stunning location.
What you can expect from your school activity trip the Blue Lake Buzz Day, your pupils can experience Climbing and an Abseil on the actual slate quarry face that was worked by the miners hundreds of years ago. Next we will go Mine exploring in our very own mine and you will see for yourself the conditions that the mine worker had to live and work in. The mine it’s self contains artefacts and features left behind by the miners of years ago. We round the day off with the adrenaline pumping 70 foot zip wire into the Blue Lake it’s self.

Blue Lake Buzz Day: Mine Exploration
Other activities available on this site are: Bush Craft, Orienteering and Tyrolean Challenge. The site has some of the best views over Cardigan Bay towards the Llyn Peninsular in North Wales.
Access to this incredible site is closely monitored and regulated so it is a unique opportunity for your pupils to enjoy something special. We supply all the specialist equipment so all that your pupils will need to bring is: Swim suits, towel, change of dry clothes, old trainers and waterproofs. However we do have a limited supply of waterproofs for anyone who has been a little forgetful.
This is an amazing adventure and a great day out. If your activity residential is based at The Pantienion Hall Hotel, the lake is within easy walking distance, so this makes Pantienion Hall a very popular place for schools to stay, and so consequently gets booked up early, if you are thinking of The Blue Lake as an activity day, please contact us early to check availability.
You can access the adventure day from some of our locations in the south of Snowdonia but it is a bit of a long day, so if there is availability Pantienion Hall this is the best option.
Other activities that we have available in the area to compliment your stay are: Gorge walking, Mountaineering, Sit On Kayaking and Raft Building. There are also opportunities for self lead activities such as trips on the Tywyn Steam Mountain Railway, walking visits into the seaside town of Barmouth and beach games at Fairbourne.
